Unlined. A small patch, approximately 2x1 inches, applied to reverse of canvas at lower edge in lower left quadrant. Very minor frame abrasion at edges. Vertical stretcher bar mark visible under raking light at upper half of right edge. Extremely minor buckling to canvas in upper right corner, visible under raking light upon close inspection. Some yellowing to the varnish layer. Finely patterned craquelure, with a few areas of more pronounced pigment separation; the latter affecting some areas of dark green pigment, particularly those in the lower half of the work. A cluster of small losses at center of lower edge; some losses with associated lifting to adjacent areas. A very few scattered small dots of discolored accretion. Minor surface dust.
Under UV: varnish fluoresces green unevenly and appears to have been removed in some areas. Modern pigments fluoresce as expected. A circular area of brushy retouching at lower edge, just right of center and to the upper right of the aforementioned cluster of losses, corresponding with the aforementioned patch to reverse and likely addressing a repair.
