Reveau Bassett (American, 1897-1981) Eleven O'Clock Flight, 1940 Lithograph on paper 9 x 11-1/2 inches (22.9 x 29.2 cm) (image) Signed, titled, and inscribed in pencil along lower edge Property from the Estate of Olin Travis and Josephine Oliver Dallas native, Reveau Mott Bassett trained at the Arts Student League of New York under Joseph Pennell, William Leigh, and Boardman Robinson. He was also greatly influenced by studying, and later working, with Frank Reaugh. Bassett is particularly well-known for his popular wild-life paintings and Texas landscapes. Not framed, sheet is loose. Marked toning throughout with an area of heavier toning about 1/4" outside the image boundary. A few scattered areas of heavier staining evident verso. Scattered foxing throughout, most visible along the lower margin. Multiple areas of adhesive residue and staining along the extreme edges of the sheet. Minor undulation to the sheet. A few faint handling creases visible in raking light.
