A Pair of Chokwe Puppets Angola/Democratic Republic of Congo/Zambia, c. 20th century Carved wood figures wrapped in vegetal fiber netting, colored in alternating natural tan and brown stripes. The arms separately carved and attached. The shorter with male genital poking out from front. Each head made with a combination of materials, with cane coils tied on to create raised mouths, nose, and eye areas. Two teeth made from cane shards in upper lips. In good condition, appropriate for age, origin, and materials. Each partially mounted to a steel base.
