Mel Ramos (1935-2018) Pucci Pants, 2015 Lithograph in colors on Magnani paper laid on a gold leaf support 22 x 19 inches (55.9 x 48.3 cm) (case) A.P. 18/50 (aside from an edition of 200) Signed and editioned in pencil on supplemental sheet Published by Galerie Ernst Hilger, Vienna Printed by Stamperia Carini, San Giovanni Valdarno, Italy Few prints exist from Pop Art pioneer Mel Ramos's important 1966 fashion paintings series, making Pucci Pants a rare and significant piece. The work references a famous photo of the legendary textile-pattern maverick Don Emilio Pucci's (Marchese di Barsento, of the Italian noble Pucci family) oriental-style pants-suit, worn by ‘60s supermodel Veruschka von Lehndorff (of the German noble family House of Lehndorff, and famous for Antonioni's Blow-Up), whose head Ramos has replaced, as he often did.
