This work will be included in the forthcoming vol. V of the Léonard Tsuguharu Foujita catalogue raisonné, currently being prepared. Léonard Tsuguharu Foujita, a Japanese-French artist known for his delicate, meticulous painting style, brought a unique approach to his floral works from the mid-1950s, infusing them with a blend of Eastern and Western artistic traditions. His flower bouquets from this period are remarkable for their precision, soft elegance, and distinctive stylistic blend, making them some of the most cherished pieces in his oeuvre. Foujita's attention to detail, his distinctive handling of light, and his restrained, almost ethereal color palette set these works apart, embodying a unique synthesis of Japanese aesthetics and European painting techniques. Unlined canvas prepared with gesso. Scattered instances of minor frame abrasion at edges, not visible when framed. Some yellowing to the varnish layer, most notable at edges. Finely patterned craquelure throughout. Some areas of discoloration in the background. A few scattered small dots of discolored accretion, the most notable of which appears near center of vase just below the rim. Scattered small surface abrasions in the background. Under UV: varnish fluoresces green unevenly, particularly at edges. Black pigments fluoresce as expected. No apparent retouching. Framed Dimensions 22.75 X 19.75 Inches
